Peeping Tom at large in Fernie

Elk Valley RCMP have warned the public about what appears to be a “Peeping Tom” upsetting some people in Fernie.

The incidents began in the evening hours March 1, 2010 when a lone male was observed peeking into a window at the Pinnacle Ridge Condo units in Fernie.

On March 11, the pernicious peeper struck again twice on the same day. In the first incident he was observed with a ladder looking into the second storey window of a residence on 11th Avenue and later in the evening that day he was seen reaching inside a window in an attempt to open it.

The second incident occurred about 10:42 p.m. on 10th Avenue and the insidious intruder was described as having dark hair down to his collar, a dark jacket and about 5 ft. 10 inches tall.

Police are very concerned about the criminal behaviour of the malicious malinger as it appears to be escalating from peeping through windows to attempting to poke his way inside. Motivation for the crime appears to be voyeurism, say the police.

The public is asked to be vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour to the police. Any lascivious behaviour by the lewd libertine should be reported, the police say.
