Cranbrook’s Ryan Chynoweth signed a Western Hockey League educational contract with the Everett Silvertips, in a move announced yesterday.
The 15-year-old was Everett’s first pick in this year’s WHL Bantam Draft, going 24th overall.
“We’re very pleased to have Ryan join our organization,” Everett general manager Doug Soetaert said, in a press release. “He brings solid character, skill, and great passion to his game, which exemplifies what we are looking for in a Silvertip. He has definitely earned this educational contract with the hard work that he has put in over the last several years.”
The son of Kootenay Ice general manager Jeff Chynoweth, Ryan was one of the top scorers at Everett’s Rookie Camp. His 10 points (6G, 4A) was second among 1994- and 95-born Silvertips prospects.
