I read with great interest and amusement Gerry Warner’s column on “Decline of the Male Species.”
I, for one, am glad of the changes. I remember in the early 1920s when my mother was getting ready to go to vote and my Dad was furious. “what is the world coming to — women voting, the very idea. The country will sure go to hell,” and on and on. And I being about seven-years-old, meekly said, “But Dad, women are people too.” (In those days wives were thought of as possessions in the same category as cattle, pigs, etc.)
Years went by and my Dad and I had another verbal battle. I ended my side of the argument saying, “Women can do anything a man can do, except father a child, and so far we haven’t been able to solve that — yet.” But look out guys — who knows?
With women doing so well just remember the old saying, “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.”
