OK, the jig is up. It’s time for us to spill the beans about all those peculiar ads we’ve been running over the summer, not to mention that mysterious countdown on the front page.
Today, the Daily News officially unveils The Kamloops Project.
For weeks now, we’ve been planning a major community endeavour set to take place on Oct. 19 — one that aims to document life in Kamloops like never before.
The project aims to create a historical snapshot of a moment in time by encouraging Kamloops residents to record a brief statement of what they were doing, thinking or feeling at any point during Oct. 19, and by sending us a photo of themselves from that day.
The goal is to produce a mosaic of actions, thoughts and emotions that will serve as a historical documentary or societal narrative of life in Kamloops in the year 2010.
Submissions will be uploaded to a permanent website created specifically for The Kamloops Project, and many will become part of a commemorative printed publication distributed throughout our reading area.
In the coming days, The Daily News will publish more stories giving Kamloops residents everything they need to know to be ready for Oct. 19.
Meanwhile, we’ve posted a list of Frequently Asked Questions on the project’s website at www.kamloopsproject.ca, which includes a PDF version that can be printed.
