Cranbrook City Council received an update about the renovations at the Memorial Arena at Monday night's meeting and was told the opening has been pushed back to mid-December.
Stacey Paulson, facility operations manager, told Council if everything goes according to plan the arena should be able to open the third week of December.
Items that will not be completed because funds were reallocated include replacing wood windows, radiant heaters, repairing the concrete slab in the mechanical room and installing gutter and rainwater leaders.
Some items will not be completed for the opening but work can continue on them while the building is being used. According to the report to Council the electrical upgrades and painting are each 80 per cent complete.
Some of the items that have been completed include replacing the arena concrete slab, replacing the exterior roof, lighting, new flooring, storm drainage and asphalt paving.
The upgrades were funded in part by $1 million from the federal RinC program and the City borrowed the remaining $2.6 million to complete the project.
