Murray Floyd (right) of Beachcomber Hot Tubs in Cranbrook accepts the international award for Unique Small Town Store of the Year from Beachcomber representative, Blaine Martian.

Beachcomber Hot Tubs in Cranbrook might have to add a trophy case to the renovations the store recently did, as the store was recognized with an award for the second year in a row.

Murray Floyd, owner and general manager of the local Beachcomber Hot Tubs, was presented with the Beachcomber Hot Tubs Unique Small Town Store of the Year award. The award is given to a store in an area with a population of 50,000 or less. Floyd said winning the award again was unreal.

"For our size it's just absolutely phenomenal that we were able to attain this two years in a row," he said. "This is a world wide company and there are only six awards handed out worldwide so for us to scoop one two years in a row is just remarkable."

Floyd said the award is based on a number of factors, including number of hot tubs sold and customer service.

"We move a lot of hot tubs in this area. We have 16 hot tubs on our floor right now. We have the largest selection of hot tubs in western Canada for sure," he said. "None of this is attainable without great staff. We have 15 employees down here that are all long-term, one has even been here over 20 years, and lots of them are 10-year guys. We really strive to take care of our employees down here because they are the backbone of any good business."

Last year the store also won an award for best water treatment sales in its category.

Beachcomber Hot Tubs is also home to Culligan and Flaman Fitness and major renovations done recently to the building tripled the business's space. Not only are there lots of hot tubs on display at Beachcomber but they also have the largest display of fitness equipment within about 300 km with the exception of Calgary, Floyd said.

Floyd said the business's success over the years comes down to good customer service.

"We need to take care of our customers and you're not going to survive in a small town if you don't take care of your customers," he said. "We just try and be honest with them and treat them as if they're walking through the front door of your house."

Floyd invites everyone who hasn't been into the store lately to come down and check out the new changes. For information on Beachcomber Hot Tubs, Culligan or Flaman Fitness you can also go to www.culligancranbrook.com to find out more.

"When people come in, it doesn't matter if it's for fitness, hot tubs or Culligan; you're going to be receiving great value from our store and exceptional customer service," Floyd said.
