Get out and Move for Health Day

All residents of the City of Cranbrook are encouraged to get out and get active Tuesday, May 10 by participating in a number of activities planned for Move for Health Day.

Events have been organized by City Leisure Services staff, not just for individuals but for a number of participating schools as well. Students from Steeples Elementary, Amy Woodland, TM Roberts and Mount Baker Secondary School will all be involved in a number of activities designed to promote and encourage active living at the Rec Plex from 9:30 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Activities include yoga, martial arts self defense, bike safety, golf instruction and other fun events like soccer, Frisbee and races. Events are not just limited to kids, as Leisure Services has set up a number of events for adults and seniors alike.

There will be a Free Senior Aquafit class from 8:30 a.m. until 9:15 a.m., followed by a Senior Fitness Park orientation from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Move for Health Day is an international event created in 2002 by the World Health Organization to promote physical activity. B.C. Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA) leads our province in promoting this global event and the benefits of healthy active living, providing participants with tools and resources.

Move for Health Day events bring people together in a spirit of fun, inclusivity, and support of healthy active living.
