The Kimberley Dynamiters can't complain about two wins in two games as they prepare to wrap up a triple-header tonight at the Civic Centre against the Nelson Leafs.
The Nitros faced the Columbia Valley Rockies on Saturday in Invermere, beating them 5-3 as well as grounding the Sicamous Eagles 10-3 the following afternoon on Sunday at home in the Civic centre.
Nitro newcomer Tyson Valette scored a hat trick in his first game with the club, as the team's newest left-winger scored goals in the second and third period, along with an empty netter at the end of the game.
Rylan Duley opened scoring in the first period, beating Travis Beekhuizen, the Rockies netminder, twice in under a minute and a half at the end of the first period.
Joe Colborne answered for the Rockies in the second period, but Valette struck for his first at the halfway mark.
The Rockies answered a couple minutes later, when Todd Sykes put his club within a goal of catching up for the tie.
Both teams traded goals in the third, as Valette scored his second for the Dynamiters and Jayson Cannell put the puck in the net within a four-minute span of the other, but Valette got his hattie off an empty net goal with three seconds left to secure the win for Kimberley.
It was a shooting gallery for Beekhuizen, who faced 68 shots from the Dynamiters, while Jeremy Mousseau, who stood between the pipes and earned the win for the Nitros, turned away 28 of 31 shots.
Duley also had a five-point night, notching three assists from Valette's three goals and Colton Vannucci also put down four assists, aiding Duley's goals and two of Valette's.
Six goals by the Nitros in the second period powered the Kimberley club to a 10-3 win the following day, as the Dynamiters clipped the wings of the visiting Sicamous Eagles.
Olli Dickson drew first blood in the opening frame, followed by Valette, who scored five minutes later.
The Eagles tied up the affair with two quick shorthanded goals near the end of the period, off of efforts from Corbin Marcotte and Brad Crump, but Duley put his club in the lead with a minute to go.
The Dynamiters blew open the game in the ensuing frame, scoring six goals as the Nitro offense took control of the contest.
Duley got his second of the night off a shorthanded effort, and Lane Koenteges added a powerplay goal six minutes later. Fifteeen seconds afterwards, Richard Hubscher got his 18th goal of the season, while Vannucci, Dickson and Bryce Perpelitz all scored within the last two minutes of the period.
The Eagles managed to hold Kimberley to one goal in the third-which was scored by Brett Luker-while getting a marker of their own, off an unassisted effort from Matt Reed.
The weekend success puts the Dynamiters in first place in the Eddie Mountain Division, and while the club is tied in points with the Fernie Ghostriders, the Nitros still have a few games in hand.
The Nitros will face the Leafs tonight, which are carrying a four game win streak; their last game being a 5-2 win over Castlegar on Friday.
