The Kimberley Dynamiters had their 13-game win streak snapped this weekend during a home-and-home series with the Creston Valley Thunder Cats, dropping their Friday game 7-5 while on the road, but beating them 3-1 at home in the Civic Centre the following night.

The floodgates opened in the first period in Creston, as the Nitros built up a 4-1 lead, but the 'Cats clawed back in the second, with four unanswered goals. The T-Cats edged out the Nitros in the third, scoring twice while Kimberley only got one goal.

Creston scored first within the first minute of the game on a goal from Trevor Forward, and the T-Cats held the lead for just over 12 minutes, until Taylor McDowell tied it up.

Tyson Valette scored on the man-advantage for the Nitros, and two quick goals from McDowell and Jordan Revie within five seconds gave the Nitros a 4-1 lead.

The Thunder Cats owned the second period, as Jesse Collins, Tyler Akeroyd and Brandon Formosa scored even-strength goals, while Trevor LeBlanc got his on the powerplay.

Senate Patton andwered in the first minute in the third period to tie up the game, but Jovi Fabbri scored on the man-advantage and Collins got his second of the night and the insurance goal in the final minute of the game.

Collins had a big night for the T-Cats, with two goals and three assists, while McDowell led the Nitros, with two goals and one assist.

Jeremy Mousseau started the game, but got yanked after the fifth goal in the second period, as Braeden Ostepchuk stepped in to provide some relief. Mousseau faced 19 shots and made 14 saves, while Ostepchuck turned away 13 pucks and allowed two goals.

The Nitros got their revenge the following night in Kimberley, facing off again against the T-Cats and skating away with a 3-1 win.

Both teams traded goals in the first period; CJ Caputo scored first for Creston, while Patton answered a few minutes later on the powerplay.

Rylan Duley followed suit with another goal on the man-advantage near the end of the second period, and Richard Hubscher sealed up the win with yet another powerplay goal in the third.

Special teams was the factor that gave Kimberley the win, scoring three goals in six opportunities, while denying the T-Cats on seven of theirs.

Mousseau got the start again, and made 35 saves, allowing only the lone goal, while Michael Hails took the loss for the T-Cats, making 25 saves between the pipes.

The Fernie Ghostriders won both of their weekend games in a home and home series of their own, allowing the club to tie up with Kimberley for first place in the Eddie Mountain division.

The Dynamiters are now in their Christmas break and will return to the ice on Dec. 29 for an important divisional matchup against the Fernie Ghostriders.
