Rylan Duley scored twice to lead his club to a 5-1 win over the visiting Golden Rockets on Tuesday night, tying them up with the Fernie Ghostriders for first place in the Eddie Mountain Division.
The high-flying Nitros, which are 9-1-0-0 in their last 10 games, have become quite the success story as they enter into the final stretch of the regular season.
Jeremy Mousseau stood between the pipes for Kimberley, making 28 saves, while the Dynamiters outshot their opponents in every period, putting 42 shots on Rockets stopper Jarrod Schamerhorn.
Golden was awarded six powerplays and stymied by the Nitros on all of them, while Kimberley converted on one man-advantage out of five.
Tyson Valette opened the scoring five minutes into the opening period, followed by a goal from Richard Hubscher just after the halfway mark.
Golden scored its only goal with just over a minute left in the frame, on an effort from Connor Beauchemin.
The Rockets held the Nitros scoreless in the second period, despite facing 13 shots on goal.
Duley scored his first on the powerplay less than a minute into the third period, and Colton Vannucci potted another fourteen minutes later. Duley finished off the Rockets with his second goal of the night with just over five minutes left in the game.
While scoreless, team points leader Senate Patton notched three assists, and Duley also got a helper on Hubscher's first period goal.
Despite being tied at first with the Ghostriders in the Eddie Mountain Division, the Nitros have four games in hand against their divisional opponents, giving them the leeway to pull ahead.
Golden, in turn, suffered its sixth loss in a row, and sits 10 points behind the Creston Valley Thunder Cats.
The Nitros will take a three game road trip this weekend to face the struggling Chase Heat on Friday, the high-flying Kamloops Storm on Saturday and the Revelstoke Grizzlies on Sunday.
