Seven Kimberley North Star Ski Racers travelled to Panorama to compete in several Giant Slalom (GS) ski races on January 7th and 8th.

All Kootenay Zone clubs of Fernie, Kimberley, Red Mountain and Whitewater attended the race. Team Panorama, an Alberta based club also competed in the races as the race was held at their home hill.

This race is one of two qualifying races for K1 girls and boys (ages 11 and 12) who reside within the Kootenay Zone for the BC Winter Games. The second qualifying race will be held on January 14th and 15th at Kimberley Alpine Resort and the athletes will be racing slalom.

Congratulations to Katie Grady, North Star Ski Cross Racer who won her division at Silver Mountain in Kellogg Idaho on Saturday January 7. Last year Katie qualified for the National USA SA in Colorado and came 2nd. Her next event will be in Mt. Washington later this month.

Kimberley North Star Racers has operated since 1987, with the mission "To bring to the community fun, challenge and opportunities for personal excellence through participation and competition in alpine ski racing, ski cross and all mountain skiing."
