The Rockets took a three-goal lead in the first period and never looked back as they romped 5-2 past the Kimberley Dynamiters in Golden on Tuesday night.
Golden outshot their opponents in all three periods, as the Nitros only 18 shots on net, beating Cole Henson twice over 60 minutes.
Connor Beauchemin opened the scoring two minutes into the game, beating Nitro starter Jeremy Mousseau. Three minutes later, Dallas Flockhart scored, followed by another goal, this time from Keith Wake.
It was a tough night for Mousseau, who only made two saves of the five shots he faced, before Braeden Ostepchuk replaced him after the third goal.
The Nitros regrouped in the second period, and Rylan Duley put his club up on the board on a Dynamiter powerplay at the halfway mark of the period.
Golden struck again early in the third frame, when Jacob Bergeron gave the Rockets a commanding lead. Taylor McDowell fired up his side of the bench when he put in a shorthanded marker near the end of the game, but Wake added his second of the night in the final minute with an empty net goal.
Out of six powerplay opportunities, the Nitros converted only once, while the Rockets were denied on all of their five opportunities.
The Dynamiters are now one game behind the division-leading Fernie Ghostriders, along with being two points shy of a tie in the standings.
The Braves will be in Kimberley on Friday to challenge the Nitros on home ice at the Civic Centre.
