City puts Shaw on the naughty chair

Fed up with missed airings of council meetings, city council decided to complain about Shaw TV to the CRTC at its Monday, February 6 meeting.

Councillor Angus Davis put forward the motion, explaining that many people who can't make it to council chambers rely on Shaw's broadcast of the meeting the next day.

Davis said the broadcast has not been dependable for several years.

"It's a great opportunity for that corporation to have a public service and if they can do it on a regular basis I think thousands of people will be happy that it's there," said Davis.

"Shaw Cable has wonderful ads on every media you can see, telling you how dependable and how willing they are to serve you. Here they have a mandate to serve the community."
