Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,539.24, up 143.98 points):

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up 59 cents, or 5.51 per cent, at $11.30 on 18,188,275 shares.

Crocodile Gold Corp. (TSX:CRK). Miner. Down one cent, or 1.69 per cent, at 58 cents on 13,464,015 shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up $1.39, or 8.92 per cent, at $16.98 on 11,003,141 shares.

Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM). Oil and gas. Up 11 cents, or 0.91 per cent, at $12.25 on 9,761,139 shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Up four cents, or 0.84 per cent, at $4.81 on 7,840,834 shares.

Quadra FNX Mining Ltd. (TSX:QUX). Miner. Up 28 cents, or 1.92 per cent, at $14.88 on 6,920,849 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,604.05, up 27.76 points):

Lakeside Steel Inc. (TSXV:LS). Miner. Up five cents, or 22.73 per cent, at 27 cents on 23,572,299 shares. U.S.-based JMC Steel Group has made a friendly takeover offer of 29.8 cents per share for Lakeside, a bid that values the pipe and tube maker at about $57.8 million.

CardioComm Solutions Inc. (TSXV:EKG). Health care. Down 3.5 cents, or 8.05 per cent, at 40 cents on 17,215,759 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Crescent Point Energy Corp. (TSX:CPG). Oil and gas. Down 47 cents, or 1.01 per cent, at $46.17 on 1,668,233 shares. The Calgary-based conventional oil producer said it plans to buy its Saskatchewan neighbour, Wild Stream Exploration Inc., for about $770 million in a deal that will boost this year's production by about 4.4 per cent.
