Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,559.85, down 17.44 points):

Westaim Corp. (TSX:WED). Insurer. Down one cent, or 1.89 per cent, at 52 cents on 4,981,534 shares.

Yukon-Nevada Gold Corp. (TSX:YNG). Miner. Up six cents, or 19.67 per cent, at 36.5 cents on 3,967,399 shares.

Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Up two cents, or 0.06 per cent, at $34.92 on 3,756,949 shares.

Twin Butte Energy Ltd. (TSX:TBE). Oil and gas. Up four cents, or 1.54 per cent, at $2.63 on 3,685,448 shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Down five cents, or 0.45 per cent, at $11.09 on 3,627,351 shares.

Quadra FNX Mining Ltd. (TSX:QUX). Miner. Down six cents, or 0.40 per cent, at $14.99 on 3,215,847 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,664.22, down 0.89 of a point):

Sprylogics International Corp. (TSXV:SPY). Software development. Up 1.5 cents, or 15.79 per cent, at 11 cents on 9,093,985 shares.

Intertainment Media Inc. (TSXV:INT). Digital media. Up two cents, or 2.47 per cent, at 83 cents on 6,963,487 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Royal Bank of Canada (TSX:RY). Bank. Up 14 cents, or 0.26 per cent, at $53.47 on 1,751,441 shares. RBC's top-three executives all took a pay cut last year, as the bank wrote off its U.S. regional retail banking operations and saw weaker results from its capital markets business amid a difficult market. Chief executive Gord Nixon earned $10.1 million last year, down from $11 million in 2010, according the bank's annual disclosure released Monday.

Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. (TSX:CP). Railway. Up 87 cents, or 1.18 per cent, at $74.34 on 995,507 shares. Railroad legend Hunter Harrison promises he won't disappoint if shareholders give him a chance to come out of retirement and overhaul the struggling railroad with a "no excuses" crackdown on efficiency.
